I thought the movie was incredible but I didn’t like how dumbed down both characters felt. I feel like you don’t get to see the full extent of Rocky’s genius in the movies as you do in the book, they made him feel more like the alien pet. They basically just nerfed rocky.

I wouldn’t expect better than the original I n today’s Hollywood (and for most adaptions in general honestly) but the movie was still really good imo! The books just better!

I haven’t even gotten to where he meets Rocky yet in the book (i’ve reached where the first like thingy rocky sent is sent to him) so I can’t compare it 💔 they dumbed down Grace too and Stratt isn’t as like respected/powerful(?) in the movie either

Hmm… that’s good to know. I really like being able to develop my own ideas of the characters and the scenes from the book because I have such a visual imagination, but if it’s really worth doing it in that order, I might

idk it’s up to you for sure, book goes a lot more in depth on things, I don’t think it would be bad either way tbh, the book and movie are both great, I just wish the movie wouldn’t have dumbed things down so much or glossed over things like Grace and Rocky learning to communicate
