I enjoyed it, but I did think the protagonist was a bit annoying with her inability to see past her flaws. It makes her more human, yeah, but I hoped for more growth over the story. It just kind of felt like she randomly decided to live again, instead of genuinely WANTING to. I also agree with a few other commenters on it portraying meds and mental health as “bad,” but I can understand why it was portrayed that way
Idk how much youve read the synopsis. But it was like "oh youre suicidal? Midlife crisis? Depressed? Well actually why dont you just enjoy the present 🥰🥰🥰 look at all these other variations of your life! Misery exists there too, so be happy in the current normal boring life you have" And *poof* the will to live can return just like that🫰 it's just cheesy and lacks nuance
1: bad writing. a lot of silly metaphors that don’t add anything to the story 2: frustrating premise. she’s plopped into every other version of her life to “see what it’s like” but never has any of their memories so she’s just fumbling through every interaction?? that’s not an accurate representation of what it would be like if she never knows what’s going on 3: messaging. so heavy handed, disses on anti depressants, poses “just be grateful for what you have” as the cure for depression, implies
My understanding is that the main character is the narrator, and her perception of getting help with mental health is a negative thing. Her brain was basically trying to get her to want to live again, but it was still prejudiced against proper health care. I think the premise is good, but I do think it should’ve been tweaked some more before publishing
