No literally, I’m not middle age, but as a woman I’ve become very hesitant of sharing what I’m reading (almost always epic fantasy) because I’ve been told multiple times that they’re “boy books” 😭

If you let other people ruin a genre for you, that is entirely a you problem. Enjoy what you enjoy. Other people’s reactions to literature have nothing to do with your personal reading.

I enjoyed Priory of the Orange Tree! I am also very into The Kindreds Curse Saga from Penn Cole. I liked the political aspects of each book and im excited for her new release “Burn of the Everflame”!

The whole saga is SO GOOD!! There IS romance (which i heavily dislike), but the main plot doesnt surround it! The actual story itself is so intriguing and the world building is FANTASTIC! I 100% recommend it!!

My absolute favorite series is the wheel of time, but I also love the Stormlight archive, the faithful and the fallen, and the realm of the elderlings. The lies of Locke Lamora isn’t technically “epic” fantasy but it’s my favorite book as well

For me personally it doesn’t ruin it, I still only read that genre, I just usually don’t tell people about it. Reactions might have nothing to do with it, but it just saves my sanity when I don’t have to deal with ignorant people. I do enough of that at work
