If you haven't read more from Toni Morrison, I really recommend it. She's probably one of my favorite authors. Books like The Bluest Eye, Sula, Paradise, Beloved. Also recommend Octavia Butler if you're into speculative fiction / sci fi. Clare Keegan is a contemporary writer, she writes phenomenal short stories
