Hot take: you should not aim to make your characters relatable. Everyone relates to different things. Make them complex.
I love reading but I struggle so much to find relatable main characters. So I’ve just been writing them myself. But for once I want to have a relatable main character that I don’t have to put in the work to create

OP of the original post here, I make mine relatable because I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve ever in my life found a main character to be relatable. I just feel like if everyone else gets to have a character they can relate to, should I get it too?

your main character def should be complex, at least imo (I’m an antihero and morally gray protag lover tho so I’m biased)

Yeah that’s true. Write for yourself.
