Went to every B&N in a 40 mile radius looking for a book that came out yesterday. Every store said they had it… I’m still empty handed.

Unfortunately the system automatically counts holds and reservations as a book being in stock. Bookstores can’t really control it 😞

Is it a popular book? I went looking for a new author, new release last week and the stores I went to only ordered one copy each. I had to have one store call to reserve it at a different store so nobody would take it before I got there

I promise you they don’t dictate how many copies they get. We can only ask for more but new release stock is dictated by publishers and distributors

It’s not popular at all even in the niche. Most of the stores only got 3-5 copies. Some didn’t even get it.
