Sunrise on the reaping spoilers! Does anyone think Suzanne made a conscious decision making Effie join the games for her sister. She volunteered for her sister. I feel like this is way too coincidental for Suzanne writings yk?

I think it was deliberate. Effie stepping in to help her younger sister which then foreshadows to her witnessing Katniss doing the same for her sister

Also it builds on how her character was developed in Mockingjay and shows some vulnerability to the citizens of the capitol

I mean, Effie isn’t in the mockingjay books until the end but yeah

I can’t remember specifically in the book if it comes up but in mockingjay pt.1 she’s talking to Plutarch about whether she is going to be katniss’s escort because she’s been hiding from everyone and toys between the showiness of the capitol and helping the rebel cause

She’s not in mockingjay at all until the ending, in the books she was in the capitol prisoner and was only set free after coins takeover
