I, a brown woman, get accused of "internalized racism" and wanting "yt dick" all bc I wrote a book set in Pakistan where a woman comes back to life and kills the men who dig up her body and try to rape her. But Keeping Her Under is praised for romance?

Okay but your book sounds really interesting though! I really like revenge stories, especially those centering women and/or queer people. I support women’s rights and women’s wrongs. Is there somewhere where we can read/buy your book? I’d love to support you!

Sadly I saw a post on insta the other day of someone saying they were so excited to read the book so not exactly praised but……. 😬

When Brown women advocate for their right to live independently, wear what they want, and lead their love lives how they want, people accuse them of sleeping with yt men, even though we would still advocate for those rights even if yt men didn’t exist. Who we are intimate with or lead our love lives with should be no one’s business but people view Brown women as sexual property instead of human beings. It’s awful.

Thank you. I want to go back to writing it, but I’m too upset at how people were accusing me of “perpetuating harmful stereotypes” even though this book takes place in Pakistan. Women in Pakistan and other south Asian countries suffer so much violence and none of us have revenge fantasy books like yt women do to relieve themselves of the constant violent sexism.

Thank you so much! The book has not been published yet though. I’m just trying to get over the gross, sexist comments people made about my idea for it. Maybe next year it could be published. There’s just an outline for it currently.
