depending on how you write, a comma may be necessary in every sentence. I tend to be very long winded so I have to fight to write sentences that don’t include excessive commas and semicolons and em dashes

I mean the only issue with that is that ai doesn’t know grammar rules. it’s basically a fancy statistical model and it’s trained on the internet which includes a lot of slang and non-standard grammar so I wouldn’t really trust it to be accurate in that regard

Ai uses em dashes way more often than people normally do so I’m guessing OP means it’s a clear tell

I mean there’s nothing wrong with long sentences— it’s all a style choice, so long as your punctuation is clear. I’m just saying that’s why chatgpt might be injecting commas in everything (or it could be lying cuz it doesn’t know grammar rules)

wait fr 😭😭 I stg every “ai tell” Is out to get me personally. I use em dashes all the time (and I use ‘delve’ and ‘plethora’ or whatever the other words are). I feel like it’s a common author meme to complain about needed to resist overusing em dashes

Yeah these ai tells are killing me too 😭I write fanfiction a lot and apparently fanfiction writing styles and ai writing styles are similar enough that ai detectors have been flagging original work by college fanfic writers. Like god forbid a guy know how to use a semicolon

I mean things like grammarly and a bunch of other sites are ai, and I’ve only used the free ones myself, but have never had an issue. even with formal papers for school

TRUE 😭😭 like sorry I have a large vocab from growing up reading way above my grade level, have a desire to be as clear and precise as possible, and spend way too much time dissecting language to become over-familiar with sentence structure and grammar rules

oh yeah and like grammar specific ai will be better than generative ai like chatgpt (which is what I thought you meant tbh) but they’re still not 100% accurate. I’m actually wondering if Grammarly recently retooled their ai because I feel like it’s so bad now, I had to uninstall it
