They’re def not bad, I think the only thing that made me finish the series tho was how much I love his other books and how they’re connected. I think my main problem stemmed from how it’s marketed as a heist novel, it really isn’t. I went in expecting something like the lies of Locke Lamora and that’s like apples and oranges. If I didn’t go in expecting that I may have been fine. The second book was a bit rough, but I absolutely loved the third and the little novella that comes after it
Era 2 is fun tho, a bit different from my normal read, less serious maybe, but I didn’t have any expectations going into those so I found myself enjoying them more than I thought I would. Tho the only mistborn book I gave 5 stars to was the hero of ages. (Secret history was close but since it’s so short I think I gave it like a 4.5-4.75)
Depends if you want to jump into a series or continue with standalones I’d say. Of his other standalones I think Yumi and the Nightmare Painter is the safest to read without having read anything else. For series I’d say start with mistborn, but if you’re already well acquainted with epic fantasies and complex worlds, Stormlight is my favorite. And inbetween is Warbreaker, it’s technically a standalone (for now) but has a lot of connections to other books, it’s safe to read it before them tho
