I’m not trying to be hostile at all, I’m just curious: how do you enjoy the Harry Potter franchise by justifying the “anti-JK Rowling-ness” with the fact that you’re not giving her money? Isn’t it supporting her work by consuming any of the media? Where do you separate those ideas? Again I’m not at all trying to be hostile or go for a gotcha even though it might seem like it!

These are the only things I have recorded on the tv since this is at my parents house. In addition to this I believe that the HP fandom as a whole has done its best to separate the media from the creator as many fan-artists and writers have done great work in making transformative content that reflects the fandom’s beliefs. Believe me, as a nb person I despise JK as a person but these movies hold good memories for me, and I resonate with some of the characters.

I believe as long as you’re acknowledging that the author is a bad person and condemning them and not directly supporting them monetarily there is nothing wrong with consuming the content. Not believing anyone should consume a certain piece of media due to the creator’s beliefs is a bit too close to censorship to my liking, so I don’t follow that way of thinking.
