I need fantasy recs with the most crazy, unforeseeable plot twists. I’ve read so many that plots are becoming too predictable and I would like my mind blown please. The more niche the better, I’ve read most of the common recs 😅

Hmm I don’t know if its crazy unforseeable plot twist but “every heart a door way” by Seanan McGuire is a fantasy murder mystery set in a school filled with kids who have returned from other worlds think Alice from Wonderland, Wendy from Peter Pan or the Pevensies from Narnia. It’s a great read though! I’d recommend to anyone looking for something new (plus it’s a shorter novel and while it can stand alone there’s a whole series based on the concept!)

Maybe Babel? I mean the twists aren’t too crazy but definitely good (I also had a spoiler about the twist so I was able to pick up on smaller details)

the mask of mirrors by m.a. carrick genuinely presented an amazing story and world and it matches this description perfectly

The Greenbone Saga by Fonda Lee had me gagged the entire series.

Kinda sci fi, and the author is a horrible person (very religious Mormon in a hateful way, but it’s funny cuz the books are so beautiful in terms of the philosophy and perspectives they promote) so I recommend pirating, but the Ender’s Game series is one of my favs! Very unique and not predictable at all

A kinda sci fi rec but it’s called Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth. It’s a duology written by the same author of divergent and it’s really good (the last time I read it was middle school but I remember it being really good lol)

It’s more paranormal and mystery fantasy but I’d recommend The City Between series by W R Gingell. There’s gore (so potentially be mindful of that), but each book in the series has its own mystery/problem that they’re addressing and the larger plot comes together over the course of the books. The author is really clever so it’s hard to see things coming

Loved Enders Game! I haven’t read it in years (nothing against ya, i just have too many other books on my tbr) but still have it. I remember the rest of the series got real weird and it’s one of those books like dune where I’ll pretend only the first one exists, but maybe I’ll have to look into them again! Thanks!

I’ve heard good things but am hesitant about this one. I know a ton of people love poppy war and I won’t hate on it, but it wasn’t really for me, and I think a lot of it was because of the authors style and pacing. If you’ve read both, is it better in babel?

Love Abercrombie! I’ve read almost all his stuff, I haven’t gotten to the devils yet, but it’s at the top of my list as well!

I haven’t read poppy war but my bf didn’t like it. Pacing was a little slow at the beginning but once you get to him at the school, the pacing is good! I know people who have read both who liked Babel more if that counts for anything.
