I started the Throne of Glass tandem read, and I’m about 200 pages into each book and I’m honestly abt to quit and just read them each separately. Reading it this ways kills the pacing and there’s way too much going on

for people who hate chaol, i think the tandem works because they finish EoS and can immediately jump into KoA. however, i recommend to read separately because i remember when i read it, it felt like every time you would start getting hooked into one book, it would be time to switch to the other. it sometimes killed my mood to read it haha

I recommend not tandem reading personally

Having to read about Chaol and Nesryn for 500 straight pages isn’t going to be great, but this also isn’t the most fun way to read these books either lolll

I have a theory the tandem read was only created because people hated reading Chaol’s POV so much but the tandem is A LOT OF WORK and it’s so fucking hard to keep up with.

Yea I don’t think I’d recommend it either, maybe only on a reread. I wanted to at least try it out, but I don’t think it’s worth it at all

Doing the tandem and jumping straight into EoS is what made me want to start it in the first place, but the millions of POVs and the 2 VASTLY different worlds just doesn’t really work well. And I agree with your statement, every time I start getting immersed, I’m left on a cliffhanger and have to jump back to something so different it just throws me off. Im disliking the tandem so much that reading just about Chaol for an entire book might actually just be better lol

I’d honestly rather read a book about Chaol alone than have to deal with this mess that people have created!! It’s way too much!!!

I already have the physical books tho 💔 Im also a terrible audiobook listener, I get too distracted. But this would probs make it more manageable!!

Also it’s not even that I CANT keep up with what’s happening, it’s just that reading it like this honestly does a disservice to the writing by making it borderline insufferable to get through, when the books by themselves are great

It really disrupts the vibe, I completely agree!! Also tbh, it’s not that bad to just read TOD straight through, it helps you sink into the love that’s growing in that book with Yrene and I think also emphasizes his journey working through his trauma, which deserves respect.
