I am literally the opposite and don’t know why 😭, as a woman I actually hate that I can’t get into books with fmcs even tho they sound good. (I do only read fantasy/sci fi which may have something to do with it as it’s typically more male authors) Even with Sanderson who is my favorite author, warbreaker is one of my least favorites and it took forever to get through mistborn. All my favorite books have mmcs, lies of Locke Lamora, stormlight, Licanius trilogy, assassins apprentice
Maybe?? I’m curious too because I try to like them so much, maybe I’m just trying too hard? I tend to like reading about warriors/mages, which is very much not me so that could be it, but there really aren’t a whole bunch of bards/scholar mmcs (which would be closer to me) to compare it too. The closest I can think of off the top of my head is Kvothe and hes kinda a badass so I don’t think it counts
Yes, but I don’t really like starling either, not like actual hate, just what she represents. I’m not a huge fan of dragon fantasies (they just tend to be cliched and I appreciate unique worlds/characters) and I’m worried about the direction the cosmere seems to be heading (I know dragons have technically always been in it, but yk) unless this is about Jasnah, and unfortunately I don’t think it’s her whos mentioned 😔
