Reading ‘The Lies of Locke Lamora’ for the first time while turning it into an audio book for my girlfriend. Need SPOILER FREE voice references for the main characters before i dig in. Pretty please☺️

So I’m not 100% sure what you mean by voice references. There’s a 2009 audio book for this by Michael Page that is pretty stellar. No spoilers, but in this world building there’s quite a bit of our world’s cultures mixed in. Meaning that some characters have accents, like don and doña salvara. Also there’s a decent amount of flashbacks, where making the characters sound more like kids is applicable. I loveddd the voice characterization of chains on this audiobook. Grandiose yet dirtbaggy

Thiefmaker: think fagin from Oliver Twist Eyeless priest/chains: grandiose voice but like he’s in on a joke Young Locke: whiny rat Jean: for some reason I think of Patrick from sponge bob. He’s large and strong so his voice is rounder and deeper Don and doña salvera: uppity and Spanish accent. Lukas feirweight: german-like where it’s clippy, also think awkward nerd pushing up glasses. Capa barsavi: a mix of the salvara’s (Spanish) and chains, think mob boss like

I bet you can find a sample somewhere that gives you a good idea of tone and Atleast lets you hear some of the voices. There’s a sample of the 2019 audiobook on Spotify. I’d also check to see if local online libraries has the audiobook for reference. That’s how I listened to it

This will do! Thank you, i mean like other characters from fiction that people imagine the characters having. Any description going in helps tho! I’m trying to make it sound ✨professional✨
