Could someone explain in dumb words why Violet gets so much hate? (but without spoilers if I'm 1/3 thru iron flame) So far this just seems like the standard, easy-read romantasy w a confident female mc.

I barely finished Fourth Wing and couldn’t put up with the never-ending “but I’m just soooo tiny and petite and frail! I’m soooo short and waifish haha.” It reads as immature and self-infantilizing.

For me it’s the constant “Tell me everything about you” “Okay ask me any question and I’ll be honest” “Tell me classified war secrets” “No I can’t since that’ll implicate people other than myself and could be dangerous” “😡😡😡 so u hate me then”

Lmao yea that conflict does seem a bit forced, like just to get some interesting tension in their relationship. Its esp weird cause isn't it just until she can build her mental shields? (Again I'm not that far into the book yet so we'll see) The whole relationship feels forced and immature ngl

Yeah exactly and when the relationship is what the whole book is built on, if it doesn’t work then the book doesn’t work. And imo Xaden doesn’t do anything wrong in this book ergo the problems fall mostly on violet thus I don’t like her. (My opinion changes a bit in book 3 but I don’t want to spoil)

yea it's super weird...even when it switches to just other characters focusing on how small she it's, it rubs me the wrong way. Why are the female mcs always tiny??
