Harry Potter was such a big part of my childhood and I wish I could still enjoy it WITHOUT THE CREATOR BEING SCUM 😔

That’s not really politics, it’s just information about a new show based on a book and what their money will be spent on. People hate on jk Rowling all the time in this community for good reason that’s relevant 👍

It must be nice to be able to take a break from politics. Unfortunately for many people it’s a something that we can’t hide from because our entire existence has been made “political.”

Sorry this is gonna sound So pretentious, but not a single book is non-political. When someone creates something, they’re expressing through personal experiences with social/financial standing, culture, religion, politics, whatever. That’s why when analyzing books, it’s common to differentiate between the author’s intent and what they actually said.

only books I can think of that wouldn’t be at all political might be like romances where everyone involved is cishet and white and middle class (like the real middle class with a stable job and 6+ months worth of savings) cuz those are the only people I can think of who can afford to “not be political”

This is an S tier comment. Literally wars, executions, and genocides have all happened based on information that was read or conveyed through spoken or written story. Books are and should be political

I hate that JKR is trying to eradicate trans people but here we are. Like others have said, reading has always been inherently political. That’s why book banning and censorship comes up in almost every fascist regime. Too many people still try and promote HP when everyone knows it exists. People need to like it silently or not at all, and never give her a single penny, or you’re just directly aiding in oppression. She’s friends with open Nazis, for gods sake.
