I think it’s a joke because the human body has an organ known as the colon which can be examined and cleansed. Then there is the colon that is used in grammatical writing

it’s a running joke saying that anytime they go into a bookstore, they have to poo. it’s just the environment it gives. for some people it’s michael’s, some it’s a target or walmart, a hardware store, etc.
