Yes!! A little more modern in setting and tackles generational trauma and cultural hauntings in a similar way. They pair very well!

I’ve heard really good things about On Sundays She Picked Flowers too, but I haven’t read that one yet. It just seems very in the same vein! 💕

similarly to gothic literature, it evokes some sort of haunt usually tied to some larger societal issue. with southern gothic, themes of haunting and generational ties are explored to break down some of the mystified nature of the south “a rose for emily” by william faulkner is a great short story that exemplifies the genre rly well
