I just get annoyed that a lot of the fandom acts like SJM is some mastermind writer who is always 55 steps ahead and has elaborate plans while also saying "it's not that deep" whenever genuine writing issues or stereotypes get pointed out. Choose a lane.
ACOTAR is not the most mind blowing piece of media or something but its definitely entertaining and tugs at some deeper emotions, I wish people could enjoy it without taking it so seriously
I think it's fine to like her books. But if you're ready to call SJM one of the best fantasy writers, then at least don't backtrack with "it's not that serious" when someone critiques that stance.

True I enjoy her work and find it entertaining but I don’t call her some mastermind writer or anything, I think the bar for fantasy/romance novels is also very low right now with anyone being able to publish

I have definitely read way better writing but acotar is decently fun. I think she has end goals for the characters she writes but not a ‘master plan’, sometimes you can certainly tell that there are ass pulls.
