slightly off topic, but I’m in TMS therapy for treatment-resistant depression and I’m finally getting to the point where I can sustain hobbies! this is new to me & it feels like I’m living for the first time 😭 very excited to go to the park & read!! :D

I tried multiple medications and different therapists for years and nothing helped, I dropped out last spring and would get sick from not feeding myself. I was resigned to being homeless because of my symptoms before I heard about TMS, and I finally started it after months of trying. I’m still only halfway through the treatment & my symptoms are still bad, but I’m less reliant on my coping mechanisms & have had fewer episodes. the treatment is also way less invasive than I guessed, & it works 😭

the treatment also doesn’t have any bad side effects outside of epilepsy if you’re susceptible to that. you also can’t have any metal implants (and plastic too, maybe?) in your head, and you need to have tried two medications of different classes (e.g. SSRIs & NDRIs) and had them fail to help. there’s definitely other things, but the medication & epilepsy were the two biggest ones. oh, and they can do it for treatment-resistant anxiety disorders as well :)

I highly recommend it since I genuinely thought my life was over 😭 like I thought my friend (who told me about it) was giving me false hope, but it really does work (for the 75-90% of people it helps). my life is still kind of a mess because I lost so many years to my illness, but it feels like I’ll actually live for the first time

I’m not, I’m just doing the TMS on its own

thank you :D I think I got sunburnt which made me weirdly happy. it’s such a mundane, functional-person annoyance. reminds me of when I was a kid before I was dealing with my symptoms

Well I seem to fit the all of the qualifications. I will ask my professionals about TMS in a few days, but please forgive me, I shake my skepticism. It’s just that I’ve been told stories like this more than a few times. Idk maybe you know how I feel.

I do know how it feels: I didn’t believe it would work since it sounded like some “miracle cure.” it isn’t, but it’s the only thing that’s helped, and that’s better than anything else I’ve tried
