Why do you guys enjoy hurting yourselves? I’ve wanted to read keeping 13 and that series but every time I see a spoiler I realize that I’m not touching that series with a 10 foot pole 😮

Yeah that’s why I’m not reading that series, or other sad ones like The Song of Achilles, or A Little Life

FINALLY someone who gets me!! Im way too mentally ill to be making myself sadder by reading sad books! I need the serotonin from books, not more sadness. If I get sad I just get a reading slump, then that just makes me worse

That’s why I read romance too! I read fantasy and romance because it gives me serotonin and a sense of escapism. I need distractions from my own shitty brain

His Unexpected (+ series) by Bailey Elizabeth is a fun slowww burn paranormal romance. It starts out w some comfort tropes that feel Wattpad-y (mafia, forced prox) but flips them on their head. AE Bennet’s serulatta saga is full of misc romances of all sorts over a dystopian fantasy world. Silver Blood by TL Morgan is amazing mm vamp romance. SC Grayson has a variety of fun fantasy romance. A Thorn-Kindled Flame is a sweet Hades x Perseph retelling. I can keep going if you have more specifics!!

No. It’s graphic. And I feel like publishing that as YA is honestly gross. As a victim, I think writing explicit CSA is too far, I don’t care if the author was a victim as well. That is far too close to CP for my liking.

I don’t like SA scenes in general I feel like now in days it’s way too normalized and yes it does happen and there should be awareness but every single book does not need an SA scene you can create trauma and drama/ plot without having that not to mention a lot of these books don’t actually bring awareness so I agree wholeheartedly with your point

These sound sooooo good I just read the descriptions 😝 I’m about to eat these up. Do you have any that are like dark academia??

Apparently it’s not even one scene. It’s THREE count them THREE explicit scenes. I do like seeing survivors in lit, seeing myself in characters makes me happy. But SA scenes that add nothing to the story and are clearly fetish content or used as a shock factor make me sick.

3 is absolutely unnecessary and I feel like she probably did that because of the amount of hate that Lizzie gets she needed to show readers “oh look she’s so traumatized that’s why she does it” but you can do that without 3 child r- scenes
