I kinda love that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle killed off Sherlock Holmes so he could focus on writing more historical books, saying โ€œI must save my mind for better things.โ€ And then got so may requests to un-kill the character he kinda had to ๐Ÿ˜‚

Also love that the resulting first book back was The Hound of the Baskervilles, which is now regarded as one of the finest pieces of literature in the mystery/detective genre

Ended up falling over a waterfall during a fight with James Moriarty in ๐‘‡โ„Ž๐‘’ ๐ด๐‘‘๐‘ฃ๐‘’๐‘›๐‘ก๐‘Ÿ๐‘’ ๐‘œ๐‘“ ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’ ๐น๐‘–๐‘›๐‘Ž๐‘™ ๐‘ƒ๐‘Ÿ๐‘œ๐‘๐‘™๐‘’๐‘š. When the character was brought back the explanation of how and why he faked his death was actually pretty well thought out. So much so that there has been debate as to if it was ever meant to be a permanent death, even though Conan Doyle did day multiple times he did it so he could move on to write other things.
