What’s that about? I’m reading one rn called “Gulf: The Making of America’s Sea”

It’s a horror story set in 1980s rural Utah. Two high schoolers bond over a pair of horses they don’t own before one tragically dies - when the horses are set for slaughter, the surviving kid makes good on his friend’s last request, steals the horses, and sets his way for a secret crossing to let them free. Think ghost story meets modern day Western thriller.

I WILL say that MZD is a bit of a unique author…he writes a thousand words when most will write a paragraph. But I am THOROUGHLY enjoying it. It’s disturbing, it’s exciting, it’s frustrating but in the best way possible
