As someone who LOVES reading good character focused stories, I will never understand people who say a book is slow or boring when it’s just building the relationship between people. Especially in a book that shouldn’t really be action packed.

I think a lot of people need constant jingling keys or large events to be entertained. I don’t get it tbh. Like I heard many people complaining about Alchemised because the world building and plot is dense and slow. But that’s the point of the story.

A good book can make boring stuff seem entertaining. That’s why really good slice of life books don’t feel repetitive because they are just THAT good.

Thisssss!! And with movies too. I adore 2001 a Space Odyssey but any time I bring it up it’s always “that movie is so boring”. Like it’s building atmosphere???? It’s a visual experience and it’s fascinating if you don’t have the attention span of a squirrel

I feel the same way about Arrival (2016)

Agreed! There definitely can be books that are boring because even the slower parts aren’t building to anything, but I feel like I see too many books that take time to really establish their characters’ arcs and expand the world as a whole get shot down for a pacing that’s honestly vital to the story

Yeah I 100% agree. Shows too. Like, if it’s not 70% action/drama-packed then it gets canceled. So sad
