True! But I’m also a teacher & used to teach English, so I feel like I should be more involved with books, lol. Still happy!

I love a good memoir! I read I’m Glad My Mom Died early this year, then Project Hail Mary after the movie came out (loved both), and then I finished John Green’s new book last week. And now I’m going to read another book of his, Everything is Tuberculosis. I’ll probably read The Anthropocene Reviewed after. I like nonfiction / realistic fiction books usually! I wish I could get into fantasy, I love fantasy in all other forms except for books lol.

You know what those all sound lovely!! I completely understand the fantasy love for everything but books, I find myself being picky with fantasy books. I’m more of a thriller/horror reader myself, but growing up I LOVED nonfiction and science fiction🙏

1. Finding My Way - Malala Yousafzai ; fantastic coming-of-age memoir, extremely relatable to anyone who feels stuck in their life. Genuinely altered how I view life 2. Erasure - Percival Everett ; fiction novel about a writer who uses the stereotype put on him to his advantage, very funny & incredibly powerful 3. Normal People - Sally Rooney ; Wonderful story, great ending. The formatting pisses ppl off, but I think it’s a great tool for immersion and showing the uncertainty of those teen years

4. I’m Glad My Mom Died - Jeanette McCurdy ; very beautifully written, and highlights SO MUCH about the hollywood industry. really made me be a lot more intentional with the media I support, and now I’m a lot more capable of spotting the unhealthy practices when I see them. 5. On Earth Were Briefly Gorgeous - Ocean Vuong ; My favorite, I think. This list is no particular order. But this book hits super close to home for a few reasons. It’s a text by a beautiful poet, and the entire book is…

a letter written to his mother, who cannot read English. To quote its description: “At once a witness to fraught yet undeniable love between a single mother and her son, it is also a brutally honest exploration of race, class, and masculinity.” I love this book so much.
