It's bullshit how they've labeled and relegated Hunger Games as YA. It's the most accurate and incisive commentary on our world and power structures I've read; honestly the post-2000 1984.

YA is not a derogatory term. It’s simply an age category designed to help teens read material that they can digest and is safe for younger minds. It’s not saying only teens are allowed to read the book or find value in it. One of my grad classmates is doing her thesis on teaching hunger games to high schoolers BECAUSE it has such literary and social value. But it’s still YA which is GOOD.

it’s still very much YA. YA doesn’t mean apolitical, it means geared towards teenage readers
