Not worth it. The dragons are just ok and definitely not good enough to justify the bad writing, characters, and world building.

It’s Booktok popular, meaning it features brooding, toxic men, plenty of smut, and attempts at world building. The first one is alright but it went downhill from there.

I have heard the only good part of it is dragons. Also if you hate smut I think you will hate this book. I’ve never read it though so idk

It honestly depends on your preferences outside of that. I thought the first book was alright but wasn’t too fond of the second

i read it, same preferences as you, and i quite liked it. honestly i don’t think xaden is that bad, there’s some miscommunication but he actually has good reasons so idk. there wasn’t that much smut, only two scenes i think? very skippable too if you’d prefer. my biggest problem was violet, i find her a bit too whiny, but that is up to personal taste so i would def recommend you read it! don’t be afraid to DNF if you don’t like it

You’d probably be better off reading Temeraire or The Liveship Traders if you want a series focused on dragons.

It’s popular cause it’s a fun little escapist fantasy read with cliffhangers etc that leave u wanting to figure out the lore, not gonna enjoy it if you take it too seriously but not a bad junk read
