If possible, I’d recommend looking into getting a card for the biggest library in your state. My local one has next to nothing, but I got an NYC card since I’m in NY and it has been a lifesaver

my library uses libby and hoopla and i find that hoopla tends to have more things. Id say look and see if any local libraries around you use hoopla

…this is how I found out local libraries are not always a part of a larger system.
The library in my hometown is in a share system with like 8 surrounding towns, so if one doesn’t have it, another does.

Id check out apps like libby to see availability, and use that to decide. Personally, I got a kindle recently and I’ve used it literally everyday.

I librarymaxxed my way into 20 cards and I can confirm. It’s rare no library of mine has a book I want

I have cards in my hometown and my college town, plus the surrounding cities/counties offers cards to residents of where I lived growing up and where I lived to go to school. Plus I moved, so I got a card in my new town and the surrounding cities/counties
