It’s a romance/thriller series about a woman serial killer and a man FBI agent falling in love and it’s SO good. Very morally gray (hence the series name) but you come to love the characters so much

no wayyyyy - i’m biased bc im absolutely obsessed with that book. i personally didn’t think it was super heavy on the romance but i did read it a while ago and im a romance fiend so again i might be biased lol

the ending made me cry and I liked the amount of research the author put into it, but it didn’t feel very cohesive or compelling to me. although again I don’t like romance books in general, so the fact I finished it means it’s probs awesome

also side note: unfortunately I’ve had a track record of disliking/DNFing queer books because I get disappointed that they don’t pull me into a place with people like me, and I’ve never intimately connected with the characters like I do with other books. my identity’s complicated so it’s hard to please me in queer fiction I guess. mentioning this before I say that I hated Gideon the Ninth

hmmmmm honestly i would say just try to find a book that hits all the tropes you love. sometimes we just don’t connect with the characters and that’s ok. maybe if you can find a book that checks all the boxes it will be easier to connect with characters since you know you’ll like the plot. that’s what i do whenever im in a slump
