Can you guys comment some required reading you had in high school? I’m trying to curate a list of must read books for myself, but I can’t remember what I read in high school English 😭 like catcher in the rye, Greta Gatsby, etc.?

Great Gatsby, the handmaids tale, Romeo and Juliet, the book thief, the help, the color purple, pride and prejudice, a thousand splendid suns, 1984, the namesake Not all of these were required but I did read them all for my hs English class :)

In high school we had to read: Of Mice and Men, Romeo and Juliet, The Most Dangerous Game, Anthem, Macbeth, 1984, Frankenstein, A Deadly Wandering, Leonardo’s Shadow, Blink, The Life of Pi, Their Eyes Were Watching God, The Things They Carried, and Othello (I think that’s everything)

Handmaid’s Tale, Beloved, Poet X, Odyssey, To Kill a Mockingbird, Princess Bride, Dear Martin, Lord of the Flies, Night (some of these were middle school too)

Brave new world, hamlet, Fahrenheit 451, the crucible, the scarlet letter, of mice and men, Frankenstein, great expectations, Dracula, the little Prince, a farewell to arms, Romeo and Juliet, the autobiography of Malcolm x, the odyssey, the Aeneid, and then when I was younger I do remember having to read hatchet at least three times

Animal Farm, A Separate Peace, Lord of the Flies, Of Mice and Men, 12 Angry Men, 1984, Romeo and Juliet, Taming of the Shrew, The Book Thief, Great Expectations, The Alchemist, Fahrenheit 451, A Long Walk to Water, Freak the Mighty (more beginner but classic), Ethan Frome, Tuesdays With Morrie, The Things They Carried, Slaughterhouse 5, The Awakening, Great Gatsby, Cold Mountain, The Odyssey. These are all the books I’ve read in high school, and a couple middle school. Just finished junior year
