Is malazan really that complicated? I see all these people complaining about needing to take notes and such. Are they just being dramatic?? I need a new good series and absolutely love WoT, RotE, and the cosmere. Other recs extremely welcome as well!

The Wandering Inn. I read and loved all the books you mentioned, then i read the wandering inn, and it was simply over. It is my favorite series of all time. It’s very long, but oh so good.

I tried to read Malazan twice and I gave up both times, not because it was too complicated but more because the book did not get me to care about any of the characters after 100 pages

I actually have the series on my watchlist! I struggle to finish ebooks so I’m just waiting for the physical release. Might wait until a couple are out before starting tho

Interesting, thank you! It’s good to hear that it’s not too complicated, it didn’t sound like it, just like maybe the reviews I’ve seen were from people who didn’t know what to expect/weren’t used to epic fantasy? I’ve read a bunch of slow burn/paced epics where I haven’t cared about characters until entire books later so this might not be an issue for me

it definitely is complicated, but since you've read WoT you'll be fine.
