Itāll be terrible for Fourth Wing. Idk why but I always pictured Xaden as white with blonde hair. I didnāt find out until book 3 when I looked something up that he was supposed to be like Indianšš And after rereading, based on the description of his cousin I thought the cousin was like mixed half back half white. Idc either way tbh as long as heās hot but I can see it taking a ton of ppl by surprise unfortunately
Having opinions on casting is always a thing. It doesnāt necessarily mean people are toxic. It means they have opinions. And when you strip fundamental details from characters, people are reasonably going to be bummed. I say this having not read BOT, but the reactions seem to be pretty normal.
No one said you couldnāt have opinions. Youāre being dramatic. It is infact toxic to call those casted ugly, pointing out every flaw, etc especially about a series that is here to promote not being a bully. Also, itās weird to Americanize a series about NON Americans and then to also accept and promote the Use of AI fan casts. Literally one of the most popular Joey fan casts is literally a racist misogynistic man, but because he has blonde hair and an eyebrow slit itās all okay. Like my god
I have literally only seen people here saying they donāt fit the book descriptions like they expected and that they made a certain character that is curvy in the booksāsomething we donāt get enough rep of in filmāmuch smaller. Iām sure there are some people taking it too far like people do with every single type of media. But not every criticism is toxic in nature. I hate AI to my bones. I was not talking about that. But whatever. No nuance here, huh
Iām sorry but youāre giving āmy experience has to overrule yoursā. People do not have to specify every exception to make sure you feel heard and understood. This was clearly about those that ARE toxic and not people gen being upset. I donāt know how people have gotten so far away from comprehension and literacy to think that every statement has to be specified. You can take this post, and clearly understand Iām talking about a certain group of peopleā¦
Yes but to be fair, white washing characters is not great. Like are yall forgetting that representation matters? If a character in a book is BIPOC and they cast them as white, are folks not allowed to be upset about it? I donāt think ANYONE should be harassed for being cast as a character at all, itās not their decision, but this conversation is far more nuanced than how itās being treated here.
