I found a 2023 Toyota carolla with 52k miles for $18k. Is that a good deal? (I don’t know anything about cars)

Remember to try to get a pre purchase inspection. It’ll save you in the long run.

Update: none of the cars I was interested in are available/I am not into the other one. Thanks for the help :)

That’s a decent deal, you can definitely find a more luxurious or quicker car for the money but the Corollas gonna be super reliable

Car is solid in general that mileage is a little high for 2 years old the price is good. Get it independently checked of course.

Thanks to everyone Whos reached out so far! I have a 2012 ford focus and am not sure if it’s worth buying a new one. My fords engine overheated a few times (I think a leak in coolant pipes), no ac, and the passenger door doesn’t lock with 136k miles. I just don’t know if I need a new one

Especially if it still comes with a longer warranty at that price then that’s a pretty good deal

Is that something I ask for at the dealership? Would they do it for free?

I think the website said it was used as a rental at one point (unless im thinking of a different car) and yeah I wanted the miles to be lower, but I feel like Toyota is best of the best so it shouldn’t matter too much. Right?

Yeah im not too worried about luxury. I just want something Thats reliable and will last a long time. And is warranty something set in stone with the car? Or do I negotiate that with the dealership?

I wouldn’t know the exact price, but yes, contact the dealer to ask if they do pre purchase inspections.

I got my 2012 civic in super rough shape, power steering went out, one door wouldn’t open, struts were worn out. In the end, it was infinitely cheaper to have it fixed rather than buying a new car

Honestly my car is worth $600. So I think it would be silly to put more work into it. Thank you for your insight though :)

Wait what? Why would you ask the person selling you the car to inspect it. “After a thorough investigation we have found we are not scamming you.” That’s not how this works. You tell the dealer that you are going to take it to another shop for an inspection and if they tell you you can’t you walk away

But #3’s heart is in the right place for sure. Always have it checked out. Even though the Corolla is very reliable, if the previous owner didn’t take care of it or even crashed it they could be hiding the signs of it and a shop can dive deep. And always do it BEFORE buying so you don’t get stuck with a huge repair bill

Thank you! The tough part is that idk what to look for to know if they are hiding things

Buy the new car. Make sure the test drive is long enough to get the engine hot. What’s the warranty?
