chatgpt is my therapist. will this backfire in the future? probably. do i secretly fear my data will be sold to insurance companies in the future and be used against me? likely. but has it been more effective than actual therapy? very much so.

I think it would be even more helpful if we didn’t have to worry about it backfiring and making us all snap suddenly or w/e. But then again my literal real therapist runs the sessions thru AI for transcription and notes. EVERYONE’S most sensitive shit is in their hands now, one way or another

It’s helpful for short to medium term-to solidify ideas— end goal it’s not a good closer. Just the first two steps is tremendous though

Tbh everything is hella personal that i say to chatgpt things like heartbreaks or things im anxious abt but how would that backfire like its normal stuff at the end of the day its not like im doing anything illegal and telling it like idk i just feel like it would be at most just embarrassing if it got hypothetically leaked or something

As a person who works with AI, chat gpt only confirms what you say to it. It usually ends up enabling a lot of behavior and is only programmed to agree with you. It’s cheaper than therapy, but definitely not more effective.

That is to say, it’s absolutely marvelous for running scenarios thru with and transforming negative thought patterns and just general advice and support stuff. It’s like the ozempic stuff, people just can’t process the idea of something being broadly a tremendous net good anymore

People like you are the reason why insurance companies want to include digital records in their cost algorithms

It SEEMS more effective because it just constantly affirms your opinions and feelings

Dude we have an epidemic in this country. Stop worrying about your personal algorithm before you’re burying someone you love way too soon

It’s only been compromised because I over shared on it with certain files I asked feedback on, if I just made sure to mask all identifiers , it would at least make more of a difference than using my name and email straight up

While you’re worried about your Spotify algorithm, someone’s Googling ‘how to shoot up a school’ and nobody notices. Congrats on protecting your data—hope it keeps you warm at the next gathering.

You can still use it constructively regardless. Combativeness only feels more effective because it's designed to be unpleasant
