I was on antibiotics for tonsils for 5 days and didn’t get better so I went back in and they told me to switch to a different antibiotic and Ive been on that for a little over 24 hours now. My tonsils look horrible 💀 (TW! photo of my tonsils in comments)
Honestly you prob need a CT to rule out abscess and IV antibiotics as someone who had mono (for 6 months despite countless negative tests) and had to get their tonsils out while actively infected in the ICU

They actually look worse today than they did yesterday

Yes but because it’s a holiday weekend and they only took the blood draw yesterday, I have to wait for results until Tuesday

I don’t even know what tonsils are supposed to look like and I know that’s bad

bro i’ve been here and fighting for a tonsillectomy was the best thing i ever did for my health. haven’t been sick in months vs catching a new infection every month

This is pretty bad, when I’m working with campers/staff at minimum we take them to urgent care to get checked for strep but you should also be evaluated for mono, and tonsillitis. And keep an eye out for other symptoms like mono rash

It went away but now it’s coming back I think? But it might be a different infection this time because all my friends got sick before me

AnonymousOP5w
Yes lol this is exactly what happened to me. Do not stop seeing care. It will come and go but that does not mean you’re ok lol trust me lol trust yourself if you feel something is wrong. I was sick on and off 6-9 months with mono

How can you get so many never results for mono but still have it? I honestly haven’t really even had fevers
1
AnonymousOP5w
I didn’t have fevers either. They had to do the non-finger stick test that comes back in a week or so it’s a blood test that takes longer to be read, I saw ENT to get that

I didn’t even know that was a thing! Was it contagious when you had it? Now I’m concerned that I just gave all of my friends mono when I didn’t have symptoms

My roommate had it as well and I did get it after kissing someone who had mono lol

yes mono is contagious, and it's contagious long before symptoms appear
