I definitely have it “better” than most people but I’m afraid of never being able to fully live independently because of my epilepsy (still having ~40 seizures a year after surgery BUT I was having ~800 seizures before my surgery, so definitely better). If I ever get seizure free long enough to drive i’ll still need to worry about health insurance and doctors forever bc people without any chronic epilepsy assume “no more seizures = no more medication or doctors ever” lol

some songs on Halsey’s album The Great Impersonator kinda helped me put words to this feeling when i didn’t have them before… especially when it comes to potentially having a family and being unable to physically lift or carry my own kid.

I’ll give it a listen, thank you. My go to is usually You Will Be Found by the Dear Evan Hanson cast, it sometimes gives me slivers of hope for a better future.

a lot of these songs were written when she believed she wouldn’t live past 28 with her illness. i’d say these are the best for the chronically ill themes: “The End” “I Believe In Magic” *sobs* “Darwinism”
