Idk if this is necessary chronic illness, but does anyone have any tips for dealing with an essential tremor? I have the meds my doc gave me but it affects my dominant hand and im trying to take notes for class

My wrists and fingers get a bad tremor especially my dominant hand wrist… It’s hard to write when it happens but it has helped to type notes or sometimes putting pressure on my wrist? like holding it still at least makes it less exhausting? mine is from an autoimmune condition so I don’t know if it would present differently than your experience but that kinda helps me when it’s bad

You can try talking to disability services at your school. I’m able to get notes written for me if im unable to

This definitely counts as a disability since it affects your ability to do “essential tasks” like writing. See if they offer Genio (or similar) services!

also not school related but it has helped me at home to always use a straw and get shorter use tips that I can hold steadier. or if it’s something like soup just drink that bad boy right out the bowl, i’m not about to dump spoonfuls in my lap in my own home

Lol got it! Shorter utensils not tips😂😂 jk jk Thank you! This might be good advice! I’ll have to try and remember it next time. The only thing with writing notes is it helps me feel like im learning as i write. Like i kinda hate that stuff is online now😅 But for today’s incident, i just took my meds that calm the tremor and then i had a snack just incase. That did help, but i mostly wanted some tips for when maybe i can’t take my meds or something. Ive had it since as long as i can remember,

omg I get it I HATE taking notes online and much prefer to write but sometimes I just can’t. and it makes me so sad when I try to draw :( luckily when I do draw it’s on an ipad and I have a tablet sleeve so I can at least lay my hand down

Yeah i get that😪 i think I’ll have to take more notice of when it starts to bother me more when im writing so i know when to take a break. Now drawing.. idgaf😂 i will throw down a drawing for 8 hours straight you can’t stop me! But i HAAATTTEEE it when im trying to get the sketch down, my hand just isnt cooperating and it messes up the line ever so slightly but i know its not what i want so i gotta redo it. But then we got the fucking Chihuahua shakes, suddenly i forgot how to hold a pencil💀

My thing with the ipad is its so smooth. So i can’t really tell how much im pressing down on my screen. And then when i start to shake its a lil hard to control cause i can’t feel the pressure on my “paper” Idk how to explain it😅 like my pencil just moves across the paper and i can feel how i press it compared to the ipad
