People with hEDS, how hard would i need to hug you before something popped out of socket? Only asking because I’m scared of hurting my partner when I give them hugs, especially if I’m excited and not thinking

Gf and best friend have heds (best friend is extremely hyper mobile), they have no issues with hugging, so probably pretty hard. I put my full weight on my gf and they are fine joint wise. My one difficulty (also hypermobile) is pressure on my stomach area cause of the ribs, so if you want to be extra cautious maybe avoid excessive pressure on the ribs?

We were spooning the other night while we slept and I felt them wiggling and they’ve got ptsd from sa so I rolled off pretty quickly but they dragged me back and mumbled about putting their elbow back correctly and I’m kind of worried that I was responsible for it trying to leave because I really don’t want to be the one that causes them more pain

I’ve never had issues with being hugged and dislocating, but I’d say mine atm is more mild (and I have more leg than arm problems), my shoulders will like stretch out but I don’t think a hug could fully pop it out

Noted noted, I know they’ve got “free range ribs” (their favorite not-joke) so I’m already really careful, especially on bad days, I’m just nervous

I would ask them about it! No harm could come from asking and if you’re worried I’m sure they’d be touched you care

I mean an extremely hard hug could probably push it out, but not dislocate if that makes sense, there’s “pushing it out” and then there’s dislocating idk if any of this makes sense

I’ve never had issues with hugging, my issue has always been with laying down in the same position for too long (ie cuddling), since it puts pressure on my joints

It probably wouldn’t make sense but I know what you’re talking about, we’ve been together five years so I’ve seen both versions of it coming out lol
