Yeah it’s really ridiculous. I got an email from my school today that they wanted to close down these food pantries for months to have “peer support” at the food pantry. And while they are “creating” these programs, students now can’t access the food pantry at our school until the Fall. Most students aren’t there to socialize they are just trying to get food before their next class. JFC

yeah that’s some crazy shit dude, like yes, let’s take away a resource (sounds like maybe multiple) that a lot of people rely on heavily so they don’t literally starve to death. they can just go without for 3-4 months though, makes total sense to me 🙄

My school has multiple campuses across the city and they are closing all the food pantries until then. The back up resources they are providing are not super helpful either. But the Basic Needs and Sustainability Hub(the people that are in charge of doing this at my school) are the type of people to be like “call 211” for every resource lol

lol same. I told them off in an email one time for telling me that. And someone that works at Women’s Resource Center at my school told me they had a talk with them about how unhelpful that is, and they still don’t care and say unhelpful things like that to students still
