that’s good! a lot of people, specifically women, think ‘that’s just the way it is’ for some people, but there are options to prevent them like changing what you use to wash yourself.

Absolutely! I did and it really helps. I just have a divine hatred for uti symptoms so I always keep that, Benadryl, and otc painkillers on me

Watch out for Benadryl, lots of research coming out over it really fucking up your brain and direct links to dementia. Second gen antihistamines not only work better but are much safer for your brain

I tend to avoid Benys unless I am actively having an awful reaction 🫩 but sometimes…I gotta. I avoid them because I tend to sleep for 14 hours after I take them

It just doesn’t work. Oral phenylephrine has no difference in efficacy than a placebo bc it can’t be absorbed through the digestive system well (only about 38% reaches circulation)

(However nasal spray phenylephrine does work bc it’s absorbed directly in the nasal passageways, however it can cause rebound congestion so should only be used according to package instructions and no longer than a few days)

Do you know of any alternative to use when having an acute allergic reaction? I take Zyrtec daily but I have a severe airborne allergy to sesame so I require Benadryl kinda a lot.

Claritin or Allegra. Claritin for more minor stuff like runny nose and eye itching and Allegra for more full system

Talk to your Dr about it, Pepcid is also an antihistamine that I had to take with Allegra for reactions. (MCAS related)

It is but it’s a different type, it’s an H2 (Allegra, Claritin, etc are H1).

Coming in 18 hours later realizing you have dayquill in here which has the same problem (phenylephrine that doesn’t work) and it tends to combine an expectorant and a cough suppressant that cancel each other out, and also recent data has found musinex expectorant doesn’t actually do anything either (the us actually doesn’t have any good approved expectorants apparently)
