I’m worried that my illness will stop me from achieving my goals. I’m only 19 and I’m trying to plan a future but every time I think about it I get scared.

I don’t know you or your diagnosis… but I will say that you are absolutely able to accomplish whatever you set your mind to👏😇but you also need to realize that your illness will slow down whatever timeline you imagined for yourself. Whether it’s physical/mental/ financial exhaustion or trying to balance the illness, school, and life- it’s extremely difficult and can lead to more flare ups. Take it slow and focus on your health and self care!! You’ll be okay! One day at a time ❤️

I was in this spot too. Taking good care of yourself absolutely comes first, and reaching your goals can come with that. And maybe some of them will have to change and that’s okay! Life rarely turns out how we thought it would.

I believe in you! You often feel so boxed in during situations like this— I am 20 and felt my world had fallen beneath my feet after figuring out I had to retire the sport I loved for chronic illness/injury… but man now that I look back (even just a few months!) and I really have made quite a path for myself.

In short, just try to take it day by day, which is easier said than done, especially if you’re like me with time anxiety. But trust me, do something small for future you every day and it will truly pay off !
