Insurance companies are actually out of their minds. I’m so glad my drs are ready to do peer to peers as soon as they start their bs. Last year they started to deny my Botox for migraines to “try other meds” and my Dr was like she’s trialed medications for over 10 years now and nothing has worked you’re not taking this away.
my organs are literally stuck together and fused to my abdominal wall, but my insurance still refuses to let my doctor treat it with anything other than birth control. i shit you not, we’ve tried 7 different forms (pills, implant, IUD, injections, you name it) and of course it doesn’t fucking help anything. birth control only helps slow down the growth, but mine is already bad, so i guess i can just go fuck myself. it makes me so angry
Insurance is the stupidest thing ever. Most of the time they’re following this prewritten protocol that says you must try ABC before you can do D. Doesn’t matter that you’ve tried B before or C is going to make things worse. The system is built to make people give up and accept being sick. Like hello?! It’d be cheaper and less of a pain on everyone if you just approved the thing that works.
Insurance always denies my meds for the same reason. Luckily there are only like 3 different meds for my illness and I’m allergic to one of them so I only had to wait a year and a half 😭 I have to fight them every year to keep my meds and it’s soooo frustrating like “yes I’m still sick keep doing your job”
So glad you have that type of support system, that’s really great! It sucks that doctors have to double their role as patient advocates because of insurance companies. Mine was already contemplating surgery for me but was wanting me to be on this med in the meantime so I’m not suffering while waiting through testing, consultations, scheduling, etc
