i’m on day 7 of my migraine and it’s so debilitating and exhausting to go to bed and wake up with the same migraine with no relief from my rescue medicine

The only thing that seems to stop mine when they just keep going is a torodol shot to the ass. Although overloading myself with caffeine, taking an edible, and sleeping for 12 hrs has stopped a migraine at least 2 times. I do not recommend tho

Go to the er if you can and ask for a migraine cocktail

I’ve gotten migraine cocktails in the past but they didn’t do much for me once it starts, they even tried giving me morphine and it didn’t do much 😅

I take a preventative med that’s an injection that works really well for the first 2-3 weeks of the month, and it’s probably what’s preventing me from getting stuck in migraine cycles and having a headache daily

i never tried the preventative meds before, my neurologist only put me on rizatriptan and qulipta but once my migraine cycle starts it’s hard to break - yesterday they gave me a Methylprednisolone pack to try and break the headache

Yes, the injection I have is called Ajovy. I don’t get migraines until the end of the month now, which my dr is prescribed a different med for the week my injection fades off. I am also scared of needles, but I just had to do a shit ton of distraction techniques so I wouldn’t panic. But now I can do it no problem

The migraine cocktails never did anything for me either, except make me feel like I wanted to rip my skin off and pull out my bones (I do not react well to reglan).

Be careful with those packs tho bc they can make u more likely to get infections (speaking from experience). You should definitely consider talking to your neuro about preventative meds, there are a lot out there.

I already have an auto immune disease so i did not know that! i really hope nothing bad comes from that now that u mentioned that , i’m gonna make an appointment with my neuro to see if i can switch my preventative meds

I get like 35-40 botox injections every 10 weeks. It’s the only thing that’s made a difference for me. Oral meds don’t work for me and I can’t take most of them anyway. I mean when I go to the er for help I’m not allowed to leave until it gets broken, I think I once spent 12 hours trying to break it. Have you done LST during it? Also if it’s been 10 days you probably need to be put on a steroid

does the botox take away the pain? I’m thinking oral meds don’t cut it for me either. also i didn’t know they kept you in the er until it broke? that never happened to me while i was in the er for migraines, but im also 19 so idk Its been 8 days and they put me on Methylprednisolone to try and break it cause i really haven’t gotten any relief

Yea I also didn’t know and am immunocompromised. Hopefully you can find something that works as well, if not more, than my Ajovy does.

Thank you, it’s nice to talk to people who also are going through the same thing :)

Real. That’s why I’m still in this app after graduation. It’s the only place I’ve found some sort of community that understands my health struggles

Yes. I was having 4-5 paralyzing migraines a week for about 8 years, no meds helped at all. I started doing the Botox and I get migraines maybe 2-3 times a month. It’s made such a difference in my life. I also started getting b12 shots biweekly and that’s made a big difference as well. B12 is commonly low in most women and can cause an array of symptoms yet it’s rarely tested. My neurologist said migraine sufferers shouldn’t ever be lower than 600 (I was at 218).
