i’m going to college in a few days for my freshman year and i have a really bad stomach. my dad has crohn’s disease and we think i might have it but as of now im just diagnosed with IBS. any advice on how to deal with terrible flare ups at college?

Get the cheapest meal plan then buy your own groceries cause cafeteria food will fuck you up, if you’re in a dorm with a communal bathroom I’m not sure what you can do right now BUT there’s usually an accommodation available for people who need their own bathroom or just a low traffic one like, one you’d share with a few suitemates but not the entire dorm floor. Baby wipes in your backpack.

I’d try to get accommodations for flexible attendance and maybe extra time for tests in case you need bathroom breaks? If you have a formal diagnosis, it’s usually pretty straight forwards to get accommodations, but make sure to use them!! Also, I always talk to my profs the first day of class and briefly explain the accommodations so they are fully aware and can put a face to the name should need be

Yes you might be able to request an ada dorm with your own bathroom
