When the pain is an 8/10 because you’re flaring but you’re about to start a new job so you can’t take your most effective pain drugs out of fear of being drug tested and facing discrimination :)

Big ups: doctors actually believing your pain and providing you adequate pain management options Not big ups: Corperate America punishing you for it

If you have a prescription for it, then it shouldn’t be a problem. They might give you shit at first tho until you prove it’s a prescription

Yeah, I had a positive result once bc I was given meds in the ER and they were such assholes at first, bc they just jump to you being an addict.

not because they care if you’re an addict, but because if you’re getting tested in the first place, there has to be some reason it’s unsafe for you to be working on those drugs. that means they have to come up with other work for you to do and someone else to do the high-risk work, which means they’re probably going to be looking for a reason to fire you and get their money’s worth out of someone else.

In the specific situation I’m talking about, the person who called me at first did jump to me being an addict and was trying to get me to admit it. I get the reasoning behind drug tests, I just had the unfortunate experience of dealing with an asshole
