I got mine out in August and 3 weeks later I could eat wings. I’ve definitely noticed a change but it’s not nearly bad enough for me to not be able to eat what I want. Everyone’s body reacts differently. My mom got hers out when she was young too and she can’t eat the yolks of eggs now. I wish you a speedy recovery, you’ll be tired for a few weeks but not having the pain is 100% worth it!!

Hell yeah consume that shit while you can. Got mine out over 3 weeks ago now and I’m still mostly surviving off saltines

Oh goodie! I’m so looking forward to it 😔 how was your pain in recovery? I’ve had 2 surgeries before but never abdominal and I heard it can be a bitch.

Is yours laparoscopic? Mine was and it wasn’t that bad. I’m mostly just not hungry for many things/ the idea of most foods makes me nauseous. I was given journavx for the week following surgery and it completely got rid of the surgical pain as long as I took it on schedule (I also have chronic pain and it didn’t touch that whatsoever)

Yes I believe so, I’m getting a battery implant in my stomach as well. Okay that doesn’t sound so horrible. I was figuring my diet would be mainly liquid for a while lol

For gastroparesis? Also you definitely won’t be on a mostly liquid diet. I was given actual dinner that night like 4 hours after surgery I just only ended up eating the saltines because the idea of real food was 🤢. (Also you may go home earlier than I did especially if you don’t have a connective tissue disorder like me. I just had additional things to look out for and stayed overnight)

Yes! Yeah no fs, I didn’t mean a forced one because of the surgery itself. I just mean already anytime the nausea and or loss of appetite gets bad I switch to liquid because it’s all I can get down and keep down so I figured if I’m experiencing that after the procedure like you I’ll try and stick with liquids ykwim? But one good thing about the gastroparesis though is it has already made me filter out the food that you can’t eat after a gallbladder removal lol

Okay that’s not so bad! Yeah my mom had hers removed late October and she said by Thanksgiving she was able to have whatever so I’m hoping it won’t be too long for me either. Thank you so much! Yeah I’ll take being extra tired for a couple weeks over all the bullshit it’s caused me
