I never thought I’d say this but I’m so glad that I’m disabled in America. Europe is NOT accessible. For anything. I saw a “ramp” that was 12° (the limit is 4° in the US). I saw tactile dots that were just painted on. And forget allergen info!

I spent a whole bunch of time in Italy and the cobblestones were a nightmare—I use a cane—and I spent the whole time thinking about just how impossible it would be in a chair

I forgot to mention all the smoking! Oh my god how normalized it is to smoke literally everywhere. Even my smoke-free hotel smelled faintly of smoke. I’ve had a dry nose and scratchy throat for days but it’s gotten magically better since getting to Disney (STRICTLY no smoking) and going on a very humid ride

I thought allergen info was better in Europe?

It is hilariously not. I have one (1) major allergy (milk) and I’m stressing and have already been majorly sick. It’s honestly a toss up if something will have allergen info, if that info will be correct, if it’s consistently formatted across stuff. It was slightly better in UK, but in France I’m just eating prepackaged food out of grocery stores. I actually have a few other allergens but thankfully they’re easier to spot (beef). Also not everyone in Europe considers butter or cheese to be milk
