do y’all have any tips for telling your friends you’re disabled? i’ve been keeping it a secret because i really hate the way that a lot of non-disabled people treat disabled people but it’s one of those things that can’t stay a secret forever

i don’t think you have to tell them. you can explain if they ask but it’s none of their business. if it effects your friendships it might be a good idea to tell tell them. but honestly i would hope you’re not friends with people you think would treat you differently

i’m planning on taking leave from work to attend a vocational rehab program soon and i work with all my friends and i really don’t want them to start pitying me and being all weird cause ive been disabled for months and nothings really changing except that im gonna start using mobility aids
