I got a few rounds of cortisone injections in major joints as a kid / teenager. most those times I was under general anesthetic so it was pretty easy, I just remember needing help getting around for the rest of the day while the drugs wore off. next day I’d already be noticeably walking more fluidly. hard to say how long the effects lasted since it was so long ago

another time I got the shots in just my ankles and under strictly local anesthetic—being conscious for that was a bit awkward because you’re just kinda lying there looking around while it happens, but not physically painful or anything
